Starting the Blog
Okay, so this is my first post in my new blog. I plan on making a new post 5 days a week. Not sure what to start writting about so it may be just a bit of free-writting at the moment and probably will flow through a lot of different topics.
For today I am just kind of going to talk about the things going on and setting up the site. I signed up for a free account with Angelfire.com as a way to post my blog and my portfolio on the web. I am going to be posting some templates that I have found on various pages and then doing a head to head challenge with them, recreating them from scratch and possibly adding some features or improving on the way that someone could reuse them for various things. I find that this can be great practice and is fun in learning how another developer might have approached a problem.
Today at work things should be interesting, we are bringing in a sales rep for an external SEM rep, to do some research on how we may be able to build our own SEO services for website clients. It is all a part of building the new media department, which I am playing a big role in as sole developer at the moment. I have to say that it is a really great opportunity to be on the ground level of something like this. I have tried putting together my own Website firm many times in the past, but they have mostly failed because of family, financial, or organization issues that I just have not had a lot of experience with. As I have grown and learned it is good to build a team that has people who have experience with these things. That is something that is in place already and we are just building onto.
Along the lines of SEO I have been reviewing some tools and should be adding them to a new Software review section that I am working on for my site. I will hopefully have a lot of different reviews to post on there. So if you have anything you want reviewed feel free to email me at c.mcintosh82@yahoo.com.
